This is an example of a marketing plan for a restaurant. It shows the key headings which need to be addressed. Any marketing plan for a restaurant needs:
Press reviews, editorial and competitions for year round publicity. For example you should know all the papers and magazines in your area and in the UK which would be useful in marketing your restaurant. The press provide the cheapest form of advertising around – public relations NOT adverts.
And Internet plan, including PPC, search engine optimisation, website design, examples of competitors websites, a booking service, links and some fantastic copy and photographs. For example, many restaurants get 50% and more of their bookings through the Internet. A solid plan will be worth tens of thousands of pounds.
Restaurant launch plan, including a party, a dry run and a series of special offers to entice new customers to try the new restaurant. For example you should plan to invite everyone from large local businesses to council officials and events organisers to your new restaurant.
Menu plan. For any restaurant the menu is the most important marketing tool. For example a good menu will encourage a high spend per head while a poor menu will drive down the number of repeat visits. The difference to you will be thousands of pounds.
Marketing strategy. Is your branding right for your restaurant and your market? For example if you planned to attract older professionals, does your image fit their age group? What about your menu, is it suitable? Have you seen other examples of marketing by a restaurant which are right for your market?
